Research Focus
In my role within the Chesapeake Bay Alkalinity (CHALK) project, I am actively engaged in investigating the role of benthic calcifiers and Bivalve-Associated Carbon Fluxes. While macrobiota's significance is often excluded in current estuarine biogeochemical models, I am dedicated to bridging this gap in understanding. My research aims to address this by examining how these benthic organisms influence carbon and alkalinity cycling in the Chesapeake Bay. Specifically, I am focusing on how the Bivalve-Associated Carbon Fluxes change in response to abiotic drivers such as temperature, salinity, and saturation state.
