Giving FAQ

I am getting mail from William & Mary but I thought I was supporting VIMS.  What is the connection?
VIMS is home to William & Mary’s Batten School of Marine Science. Because of this, all VIMS staff are W&M employees and we also benefit from shared use of resources where it makes sense (such as gift processing).
Why is the mailing address for donations have “Harlan, IA” as the city/state when VIMS is based in Gloucester Point, VA?
As of February 2024, both VIMS and W&M use CDS Global, a third-party vendor, to process all our donations that are given in the form of checks. CDS is highly respected and dedicated to providing this service 24/7, providing for accurate and efficient processing of gifts. CDS supports many well reputed organizations across the country such as University of Virginia, the Salvation Army, Harvard Business Review, and National Wildlife Federation. Your gift is in good hands.
What is the Employer Identification Number for the VIMS Foundation?
54-2027915
What should I do if the allocation I want to give to is not listed on the online gift form? Or if I have a question about how to make a gift?
Please email or call our Assistant Director of Donor Relations at [[v|cbbooker]] or (804) 684-7099. Crystal Booker will either answer your question or refer you to the best person to help you.
Why is your annual giving day called One Tribe One Day?
One Tribe One Day (OTOD) was coined by William & Mary, and Tribe is a nickname for the community of W&M and by extension VIMS through the Batten School of Marine Science. By participating in OTOD, VIMS leverages the fun, excitement and visibility of this large annual giving day campaign. OTOD support is vital to our operations.
